Jenna amid the chaos

The wedding day can, at times, be stressful. That is especially true before the ceremony when everyone is getting ready.

The VIP room at Hamilon’s 10 N. East in Jacksonville was a bit messy – and there was a wee flower girl running around somewhere – but Jenna was calm in her “Mrs. Grummel” sweatshirt with her veil in her hair.

One of my favorite moments from Jenna & Craig's wedding day.

Mandy’s gift from her ladies

Mandy walked around (and danced) all night holding her beautiful “Bride” wine glass given to her by her bridesmaids. The goblet’s color matched the wedding color perfectly and it brought am air of “PARTY!” everywhere she went.

Mandy & Billy celebrated their marriage with their family and friends at a beautiful reception at Mandy’s mom’s home in Jacksonville. The huge white tent and turquoise accents and yellow flowers everywhere were an exciting vision as guests arrived.

Thoughtful gifts for the guys in your wedding

Ryan’s gifts to his groomsmen were cufflinks individualized to each guy’s personal interest. It was a very thoughtful gift that likely took time to shop for. Great job, Ryan!

Meghan & Ryan were married at  St. Ita Catholic Church, Chicago and had their reception at The Park Grill in Millennium Park.

Miranda & Larry – Irish wedding traditions

Miranda & Larry were married April 22, 2012, at Central Baptist Church in Springfield. The sanctuary was flooded with light from huge windows and the decor was simple and elegant.

The men in the bridal party and fathers wore kilts in the bride's family's tartan. The blue carpet in the sanctuary was a perfect match.
Clovers were grown especially for the wedding from seeds from Ireland.
Miranda's shoes were special order from Europe with her family's tartan.
The guys all looked so ... Irish!

Miranda & Larry included descriptions of some traditions in their wedding program, including this one: Irish tradition holds that bridesmaids wear white to confuse any fairs that want to cause mischief during the ceremony. Also, during Midieval times, it helped confuse anyone who wished to break up the ceremony and kidnap the bride for her dowry or ransom.

The bridesmaids wore sashes of the family tartan.

Life imitating art

I met Bailey at our first meeting with Meghan and Ryan. I could tell she was a very important part of their lives.

When I saw this little doodle was on Meghan & Ryan's church program, I knew we had to do a photo just like it!

Congrats to Meghan & Ryan on their awesome wedding day Saturday, April 21, 2012. We were honored to have been chosen to document their day.

Love, marriage & Harley Davidson motorcycles

“It’s such a perfect day! If we weren’t getting married today, we’d probably be out on the bike!” – Michelle Cox on the way to see her groom on their wedding day.

Jordan’s Harley appeared in their engagement photos (see the last photo in this post) so it wasn’t a surprise that is showed up on their wedding day, too! And Michelle pulled off her idea of surprising Jordan with a Harley groom’s cake.

First look – Michelle & Jordan

About 60% of our couples opt to see each other before the ceremony to take photos before and to be able to go right to the reception following the ceremony. Michelle & Jordan decided to do their first look for their new years eve wedding at Washington Park in Springfield.

Jordan waits as Michelle makes her way up the stairs. Their bridal party and family were on hand to witness the happiness.
Michelle was very nervous while driving to the park, but I told her that after seeing Jordan, her nerves would subside a bit. She later told me they did.
None of the couples who have seen each other before the ceremony have regretted it (I try to ask each couple in the post-wedding meetings). Steve and I saw each other before the ceremony in order to take our portraits. Steve still cried when I walked down the aisle (oh- and so did I - and my daddy, too)

Michelle & Jordan’s New Years Eve wedding

Michelle & Jordan were married Saturday, December 31, 2011, in Springfield, Illinois.

The bridal party stopped at the capitol building after the ceremony and used sparklers to ‘write’ out the wedding date.

Congratulations to Michelle & Jordan!

Katie & Jack – Wedding highlights

Katie Duffin & Jack Contri were married July 2, 2011, at St. Agnes Catholic Church in Springfield and their reception was at Erin’s Pavilion at Springfield’s new Southwind Park.

Enjoy some of our favorite moments from their wedding day!

Katie was given a special hanger which she used to hang her wedding gown on the special day. The hanger was a gift from friends who found it on one of my favorite gift websites – Etsy!

Jack and his brother Val chill out at their parents’ house before getting ready.

Katie’s mom, sister and other bridesmaids help her get ready to go to the park to meet her groom.

Jack & Katie decided to see each other before the ceremony. There was a wedding later in the day at this gazebo in Springfield’s Washington Park, but a call to the park district before the big day ensured it would be available when we needed it.

After a few minutes seeing each other for the first time on their big day, they were ready to head to Katie’s parents’ house for family and bridal party portraits.

Katie’s parents’ backyard includes a bridge over a creek that runs behind their house. Katie’s sister, Shannon spent hours earlier that week power washing the bridge so it would be ready for photos.

Katie and her father Dennis wait for the ceremony to begin. Katie’s mom Theresa surprised Katie by having the florist incorporate Theresa’s own wedding veil into Katie’s bridal bouquet.

Katie & Jack, along with their bridal party, entertained the guests with their entertaining, dancing entrance.

Shannon’s maid-of-honor speech included a prop. The prop illustrated stories of Katie’s graduate school days.

Val’s best man toast was heartfelt and reflected the brothers’ close relationship.

The wagon came in handy when it came to the garter toss.

We always keep an eye on when the sun is setting. If it’s an appropriate time for the bride and groom to leave their party for a few minutes, we try to use the beautiful light to our advantage.
