Miranda & Larry – Irish wedding traditions

Miranda & Larry were married April 22, 2012, at Central Baptist Church in Springfield. The sanctuary was flooded with light from huge windows and the decor was simple and elegant.

The men in the bridal party and fathers wore kilts in the bride's family's tartan. The blue carpet in the sanctuary was a perfect match.
Clovers were grown especially for the wedding from seeds from Ireland.
Miranda's shoes were special order from Europe with her family's tartan.
The guys all looked so ... Irish!

Miranda & Larry included descriptions of some traditions in their wedding program, including this one: Irish tradition holds that bridesmaids wear white to confuse any fairs that want to cause mischief during the ceremony. Also, during Midieval times, it helped confuse anyone who wished to break up the ceremony and kidnap the bride for her dowry or ransom.

The bridesmaids wore sashes of the family tartan.

Love, marriage & Harley Davidson motorcycles

“It’s such a perfect day! If we weren’t getting married today, we’d probably be out on the bike!” – Michelle Cox on the way to see her groom on their wedding day.

Jordan’s Harley appeared in their engagement photos (see the last photo in this post) so it wasn’t a surprise that is showed up on their wedding day, too! And Michelle pulled off her idea of surprising Jordan with a Harley groom’s cake.

First look – Michelle & Jordan

About 60% of our couples opt to see each other before the ceremony to take photos before and to be able to go right to the reception following the ceremony. Michelle & Jordan decided to do their first look for their new years eve wedding at Washington Park in Springfield.

Jordan waits as Michelle makes her way up the stairs. Their bridal party and family were on hand to witness the happiness.
Michelle was very nervous while driving to the park, but I told her that after seeing Jordan, her nerves would subside a bit. She later told me they did.
None of the couples who have seen each other before the ceremony have regretted it (I try to ask each couple in the post-wedding meetings). Steve and I saw each other before the ceremony in order to take our portraits. Steve still cried when I walked down the aisle (oh- and so did I - and my daddy, too)

Sisters – it’s all in the details

Here are a few fun details from Michelle & Jordan’s December 31, 2011 wedding in Springfield, Illinois!

The beautiful tiara Michelle decided on for her wedding day.

Michelle bought a headband with sparkles and white feathers. She decided to use another headband on her wedding day, but her sister Karen took the original one and replaced the white feathers with black ones – to make her bridesmaid dress. Good idea ladies! Looks fantastic!

Michelle's sister, Karen, gave a touching - and funny- toast to her sister and the couple.
Michelle & Karen's matching tattoos say "older sister" and "younger sister." And be sure to notice their matching pedicures!

Michelle & Jordan’s New Years Eve wedding

Michelle & Jordan were married Saturday, December 31, 2011, in Springfield, Illinois.

The bridal party stopped at the capitol building after the ceremony and used sparklers to ‘write’ out the wedding date.

Congratulations to Michelle & Jordan!
